Waste Management Fleet Supervisor in Stoney Creek, Ontario
As District Fleet Supervisor, you are responsible for driving efficiencies and improvement within the Hamilton and Niagara maintenance departments. You will oversee 9 Technicians and up to 90 assets over two locations. This position runs the afternoon shift, 3:00pm – 11:30pm, Monday through Friday.

You will lead and mentor our Technicians & Apprentices to ensure quality maintenance performed, while ensuring assets meet WM safety standards. We need someone who will take ownership and make the job their own
Accurate data integrity management will be of utmost importance in this role. You will be accountable for monthly Technician assessments, control of warranty services/costs, downtime performance and preventative maintenance compliance. You will also have a hand in determining services for ‘most help needed’ trucks, facilitating communication between Fleet & Operations.
Consistent communications between Operations & Fleet will be imperative to success in this role, providing safe and reliable vehicles to meet daily operational requirements. This will involve a high level of organization and accountability to ensure vehicle management software systems are effectively utilized when scheduling repairs, ordering parts and ensuring accurate parts inventory.
Overall management of efficiency and effectiveness in the shop will consist of ensuring cleanliness, timely work flow and focus on safety. What It Takes...
You will have excellent communication skills and demonstrated leadership skills. To expand on this further – you will need to be comfortable in an ever-changing environment where you will be relied upon to make decisions and follow through with coaching and mentoring a team. You should have some experience driving accountability and results.
Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment will come in handy. This position reports to the Sr. District Fleet Manager and oversees two shops, so you will need a clear sense of urgency about planning and work execution.
The employees in our shops are unionized, so it would be helpful to have working knowledge of unionized environments and the ability to manage employee/labour relation issues, including knowledge of the progressive discipline processes.
From a technical standpoint, you should be adept at conducting research into service-related issues and have sound working knowledge of a heavy-duty trucks. Having your 310T Truck & Coach Certification or Red Seal is definitely an asset.
Education & Experience...
You will need your High School Diploma/GED & 4 years of relevant work experience in which coaching, managing safety and leading employees were requirements of the role. A valid driver’s licence is also a must.
