Job SummaryArea Director for Northern California - Nevada Market Area; (includes Reno, NV and surrounding cities). Plans, develops, directs and controls Human Resources policies and programs for MSA of $400 millions or greater in revenue. Provides and maintains an effective organization which will enable the Corporation to achieve its short and long-term goals.II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.
Participates in decision-making processes from a human resource perspective, identifying the effect of human factors on long-range business planning, interpreting Corporate and Division human resource policy, formulating and recommending new policy, and recommending change in existing policy to meet business goals and objectives. Anticipates and plans for change in human resource area as to: organizational structure, employee motivation and staffing, and total reward systems. Works with management to resolve conflict or controversy to facilitate achievement of established business objectives. Anticipates human resource issues and problems, and prepares alternatives and contingency plans. Recommends and reports on proper ratios of productivity, considering relationship of human resource costs to profits. Reviews and measures accomplishments; sets standards for performance measurement. Coordinates and implements operational human resource objectives, including: staffing requirements, employee selection, training and development, rewards (fixed, variable, non-cash), employee relations, employee communication, and compliance with EEO and other laws. Assists management team in developing bench strength – ie. Succession planning, performance management, training, diversity, etc. Acts as confidante to management on all matters of business; provides human resource guidance and counsel to managers and employees; counsels managers regarding disciplinary actions. Administers the salary and benefit programs, including fixed and variable compensation plans. Manages the staffing/employment function, including college relations and co-op programs; prepares, implements, and reports on progress of the Company’s Affirmative Action Plan. May be responsible for managing the Labor Relations function which includes the grievance process, arbitration procedure, collective bargaining, and other related activities.III. Supervisory ResponsibilitiesThe highest level of supervisory skills required in this job is the management of managerial employees. This includes:
Direct or indirect supervision of full-time employees, including: HR Manager, Labor Relations Manager, HR Generalists, HR Coordinators, etc.

Education: Bachelor’s Degree (accredited) in Human Resources, Business Administration or similar area of study, or in lieu of degree, High School Diploma or GED (accredited) and 4 years of relevant work experience. Experience: Ten years of relevant work experience (in addition to education requirement). B. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Other Requirements

Ability to travel, regularly, throughout N. CA and the Reno, NV area. Strong experience with labor relations, arbitrations, grievances, negotiations, representation at arbitrations and administrative hearings Strong analytical and diagnostic skills; understands business strategies/P&L, develops HR strategies that drives business results. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook V.
