Job Summary Performs various tasks in a landfill including picking up paper, debris and waste, controlling traffic, supporting labor functions, and bird control. Landfills operate in adverse weather conditions and work tasks will be conducted with exposure to hot or cold weather temperatures, wind, rain, or muddy conditions.

II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.

Manually picks up windblown paper from periphery of landfill, and places litter in large plastic trash bags .Pulls paper blown by the wind in fences and lifts loose paper from the ground, depositing refuse in plastic bags until full. Traffic Control Duties: During the summer months, when traffic at landfill is extraordinarily heavy. Directs the flow of trucks. Communicates with the drivers verbally or by hand signals. Labor Support Duties: Lifts construction materials for projects related to site maintenance i.e., lumber, bags of concrete mix, hand tools, etc. Uses hand tools such as shovels, picks, axes and chain saws. Other manual labor tasks may be required such as removing litter from fences, cleaning machines and shop area, along with other tasks as requested. Bird Control Duties: Responsible for using a non-lethal bird control program, to deter birds away from the work site safely. Farm Tractor Duties: Will work with a farm tractor to maintain the agricultural work on the landfill, including seeding fertilization and disking.

IV. Qualifications The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job.

A. Education/ Experience Education: Not required.

Experience: Must have labor experience with a demonstrated history of working outdoors. B. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Other Requirements Licenses as required by Local, State, Federal, Environmental and/or Health/Safety Regulatory agencies.

C. Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required Must understand proper hydration protocols, along with the training and use of personal protective equipment.
