I. Job Summary
Assists in the development, implementation and coordination of WM Safety Services programs and performance management with Areas and cross-functional departments.
II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty proficiently. Other minor duties may be assigned.
Serves as senior staff manager/advisor for both Safety Director and Vice-President.
Develops and assists Market Area’s with operational safety plans, monitors work processes, procedures and best practices to share throughout enterprise.
Monitors and regularly promotes field operations compliance of M2Z programs as well as DOT and OSHA regulations.
Assists and/or performs safety audits (SOAR) and assessments that include processes, facilities, equipment and tasks.
Serves as a liaison and collaborates with various Corporate Departments (Ops, Fleet, Disposal Ops, HR, Security, Audit etc.) to develop and implement technical training needs, addressing continuous improvement opportunities.
Trains and mentors field operational management in safety programs, and provides oversight for all operational safety training. Conducts Train the Trainer sessions as needed.
Reviews significant incidents including field investigations.
Provides hazard assessments, including identification of hazards and corrective action plans.
Serves as a team leader for Safety Operational Assessment Review (SOAR).
Participates and/or leads creation/refinement and validation of Safety programs or other Corporate programs (Ops, Fleet, Disposal, HR, Security, etc.)

A. Education and Experience
Required: Seven to ten years previous waste industry experience.
Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent experience, and five years of managerial experience in Operations and/or Safety.

C. Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required
Strong knowledge in WM Safety Rules & Regulations including DOT and OSHA, strong communication, leadership, and training skills, public speaking experience, and strong operational experience required.
