Waste Management Human Resources Business Partner in Ontario, Canada
As WM’s HR Generalist , supporting our sites across the GTA, you will be responsible for working with your client group to address advanced functions such as employee & labour relations, coaching & mentoring, policy & procedure compliance, organizational development, performance management, succession planning, conflict resolution and providing recommendations to Management . You must be able to work under pressure and handle a wide variety of activities and confidential matters with discretion.
This opportunity requires you to be a highly resourceful team-player , as well as extremely effective independently . Sounds confusing? Well – you will be able to work independently on projects from conception to completion as well as partner closely with the other members of our HR department to address group/Area projects. Based out of our Brampton office, you will need to travel frequently to your sites within the GTA to provide face-to-face support to your client group, participate in meetings and develop relationships with front-line employees.
It will be important to exercise good judgment in a variety of situations, with strong written and verbal communication, administrative and organization skills and the ability to maintain a realistic balance among multiple priorities.

As outlined above – you’ll be privy to a lot of confidential information, so it will be important to conduct yourself professionally, demonstrating discretion and tact . Your adaptability to change, ability to demonstrate a high level of client service and response will be imperative, as this role will bring competing demands and deadline pressures .
We need a forward looking thinker in this role – someone who actively seeks opportunities and proposes solutions . Your strong verbal communication skills, demonstrated ability to actively listen and speak with confidence will make you invaluable in this position in order to relay information in a concise and logical manner, encouraging open exchange of ideas and opinions .
The majority of our sites in the GTA are unionized ; it will take strong interpersonal and collaborative skills to ensure strong business relationships are fostered with personnel at all levels. It would be a huge asset if you had experience under your belt with employee relations, performance management and/or labour relations.
From an education & experience standpoint, we’re looking for a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or similar area of study & 5 years’ experience in an HR capacity. If you don’t have a Bachelor’s Degree, that’s ok – you will just need a High School Diploma/GED & 9 years of relevant work experience in a Human Resources capacity. Have a CRHA/CHRP certification or are in progress of completing it? That’s definitely an asset!
